10/17 Zine Making Class

Come explore the wonderfully DIY world of zines!

We’ll begin with a little history, looking at the origins of zine-making and its evolution into a powerful form of underground, independent, and protest media—a way for people to share ideas, challenge conventions, build community, and make their voices heard outside of traditional publishing.

Then it’s time to MAKE!

I’ll teach and demonstrate the classic single-sheet, 8-page mini zine cut-and-fold technique, giving you the basic tools to create your own handmade publication.

From there, the zine is yours to make your own. I’ll be there to encourage you, help guide you, and help you discover your own voice and the images, words, ideas, and source material that speak to you. Whether your zine is personal, political, funny, weird, poetic, visual—or something completely unexpected—there are no rules about what your zine has to be.

No previous art or zine-making experience necessary. Just bring your curiosity and your ideas!

Come cut, fold, create, experiment—and make something that sounds like YOU.
